It's that time of year again.... beautiful BC Spot Prawns are back for their limited seasonal run! Prawn fishermen across the coast officially dropped their pots today to kick off the BC Spot Prawn season, which is usually a 4-6 week run in May/June. These sweet prawns make their way from local boats to our three locations (Fanny Bay Seafood Shop, Seafood Counter at Old Farm Market Courtenay, Fanny Bay Oyster Bar & Shellfish Market) for fresh purchasing daily throughout the season. We do usually sell out each day, so don't sleep on snagging an order before the season ends.

Chef Alex Guido will be running several spot prawn features including grilled spot prawns with chimmichurri and sashimi spot prawns with fried heads at the Oyster Bar throughout the season as well!

The prices do vary based on the boats catch so you might see prices fluctuate throughout the season. This season we are anticpating higher prices due to fuel prices, an antipicated low season, as well as frozen stocks from the 2025 season being sold out already. We expect to see only a few boats along the south coast focused on bringing live prawns to market.
