At
Fanny Bay Oysters, we farm oysters and clams, planting microscopic
sized animals (oysters and clams are real animals) on our
beaches every spring. Some are planted in pouches, some are
planted in the beach with protective net coverings, some are
planted in baskets hanging from a raft, and some are planted
directly on the beach. 
Here is a picture
of some oysters that were harvested in the morning and have
had their top shell shucked off ready for freezing. After
they have traveled through the 30' tunnel freezer, and under
the salt water glaze, they will be Banquet Oysters, fresh
frozen at the farm.
